 Overall Course Aims is to:

 ·       Provide students with basic knowledge of nerve conduction and electromyography and its clinical corrrelation.

Course title: Interventional Radiology 

Department offering the course: Radiodiagnosis

 The aim of the course is to:

-       Provide the students the basic knowledge required for understanding the different interventional radiology techniques.

-       Enable the students to decide the most suitable interventional technique according to the imaging criteria of the lesion.

Course title: Tanta Stroke Chain

Department offering the course: Neuropsychiatry Department 

 The overall aim of the course:

The overall aim of the course is to make the student aware that time is brain and to be able to realize the difference between ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke and how to rapidly refer the patient to Tanta Stroke Chain.

Objectives

This course will provide students with basic knowledge regarding:

1.    Stroke Chain logistics.

2.    Different types of stroke.

3.    The urgent treatment of ischemic stroke including IV thrombolytic therapy and mechanical thrombectomy.

4.    ICU care of stroke patient.

5.    Stroke prevention.

 Course title: Echocardiography and intervention technique

Department offering the course: Cardiovascular Medicine

 AIM:

          To develop basic understanding of the indication and different modalities of echocardiography. To get knowledge of different intervention technique

 Objectives:

1. Provide students with basic medical information of the physiology of image acquistation.
2. By end of this course the student will acquire basic knowledge about the cardiac views.
3. The student will recognize the normal echocardiographic data.
4. The student can Distinguish the abnormal echocardiographic data
5. Know basic information about coronary angiography and its  views
6. Acquire  basic information  about cardiac pacing

 Aim of the course:

To recognize the history of how the world was changed by the discovery of important infectious diseases, their diagnosis and prevention and how scientists suffered in their life.

Objectives of the course:

1)    Recognize the long history of disease afflicting humanity.

2)    Describe the history of smallpox and how it was threatening lives.

3)    Identify African sleeping sickness history, diagnosis and management.

4)    Recognize the important discoveries of Sir Patrick Manson, the founder of the field of tropical medicine in parasitology.

5)    Appreciate Alexander Fleming‘s life and his work to save humanity.

6)    Recall the discovery of yaws and its medical importance.

Course title: Smoking

Department offering the course: Chest

 Aim of the course:

Smoking leads to disease and disability and harms nearly every organ of the body. Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Smoking also increases risk for tuberculosis, certain eye diseases, and problems of the immune system, including rheumatoid arthritis. So, the aims of this course are to know components forms and hazards of  tobacco smoking and to gain skills how to help smokers to quit.

Objectives:

·       Have a basic knowledge of the history of tobacco.

·       Identify the tobacco and nicotine products currently on the market especially E-Cigarette.

·       Be aware of the impact of these products on body systems especially the lung.

·       Impact of smoking on pregnancy and children.

·       Understand the basics of nicotine addiction.

Course title: Laser in Dermatology 

Department offering the course: Dermatology & Venereology Department 

 The overall aim of the course:

Laser is a rapidly advancing field that has been widely used in various medical practices, including dermatology. This course aims at providing students with the basic knowledge and skills that will help them to understand the bases of different types of Laser techniques and their applications in dermatology.

Objectives

This course will provide students with basic knowledge regarding:

1.    Basic Laser physics

2.    Laser treatment of vascular lesions

3.    Laser hair reduction

4.    Laser treatment of pigmented lesions

5.    Laser skin resurfacing and skin rejuvenation

6.    Laser safety

The overall aim of the course :

           To take our medical students into an interesting journey through this mysterious world of substance abuse and addiction leading them at the end of this journey to be aware of etiology, clinical pictures, comorbidities  and management of different  types of substance use disorders  and addiction.

Objectives:

  This course will provide our students with very important and useful knowledge regarding :

1)    Etiology, Epidemiology, types and comorbidities of  substance use disorders.

2)    Special focus upon the most common substances of abuse including Cannabis, Opioids “including Tramadol” , Alcohols, Stimulants and hallucinogens.

3)    Management of substance use disorders.

4)    Relapse prevention programmes in addiction.
